Woodland Park lush with Beauty
Woodland Park brings to mind stands of Oaks, Pines, Elms and Palmettos. Lush landscaping, natural settings and NO through streets preserve the tranquil idyllic feeling one senses as you meander along roads like Forestview, Hamptonwood, Drakeswood and Brackenwood. You'll notice the abundance of greenery shielding one home from the next... wisely! Here privacy is especially valued. You can meet and chat with your Neighbors on the street, but not hear them at your side windows.
David Nash of the IME Group developed Woodland Park originally. Its 192 acres are positioned along Phillippi Creek off McIntosh Road north of Bahia Vista Road with Nottingham as the North border and The Oaks at Woodland Park as the West border. There are 136 homes ranging from 1,500sf to 3,400sf , wood-frame construction mostly with brick or cedar facades. There are Jonas Yoder, Todd Johnston and Lee Wetherington homes among others including several built on "spec". The architectural styles vary widely: Florida Ranch, California Contemporary, Mediterranean Revival, etc.
With its efforts to preserve its beauty and the care taken to maintain the Neighborhood, Woodland Park has been the site of the annual Home Builders Association Parade of Homes for several years. A special asset of Woodland Park is its "one road in, one road out" feature. This keeps traffic to a minimum and drastically reduces drive-throughs for the safety of pedestrians and children playing.
Woodland Park is perfectly located for young families as McIntosh Middle School is directly across from the entrance; a local church pre-school is next door; and St. Martha School at Bishop Nevins Academy is within a half mile. Another benefit to the location is being close to Amish town and the delectable treats of Der Dutchman and Yoder's! Der Dutchman is also a two story shopping extravangza with a year-round Christmas store and much more on the second floor, while Yoder's boasts some of the best pies ever made. EVER!
